What you’ll do
This is an Early Childhood Care and Education position in the Children’s Centre on campus. The position works collaboratively with other educators, and with the Centre for Childhood Studies, to provide a nurturing, inclusive and rich early learning environment for young children. The position reports to the Manager of the Children’s Centre and to the Dean of the faculty of Education, Health and Human Development.

  • Assists in delivering the programs and operations of the Child Care Facility according to the child care legislation and regulations of the Province of British Columbia.
  • Provides child guidance and learning environment: physical and emotional care; secure, nurturing and supportive environment; acknowledgement and development of children’s feelings, growth and development.
  • Ensures the health and safety of the children, in compliance with the BC Community Care and Assisted Living Act’s current Child Care Licensing Regulations and Capilano Childrens Centre policies.
  • Promoting a play based, family focused early care and learning program for children by providing a place to develop their potential through freedom to explore and engage in the world around them
What you’ll bring
  • Completion of an Early Childhood Education diploma program (which includes the Early Childhood Education certificate, Special Needs Education license and/or Infant/Toddler Education license)
  • Strong knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and ability to implement it into practice.
  • One year of directly related experience in a child care centre (or other early year’s setting) within the last two years
  • Completion of a valid safety oriented first-aid certificate.

Days and Hours of Work
The Children’s Centre is open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. On call educators will work as and when needed within these hours. This position may include working evenings and weekends based on departmental needs.

$28.90 per hour (with increments to a max of $32.49 per hour)
