What you’ll do
IXD 101 – Digital Environment and Workflow introduces students to the tools, roles and responsibilities of an interaction designer. Students gain technical knowledge of the setup and maintenance of software and workflows used by the interactive design industry and begin to work with image-making software for static and dynamic media. This course examines the fair use of media and data from both a producer and end-user perspective.

Instructors will be responsible for delivering a wide variety of human-centred, interactive design courses. Key topics include: UX design principles, advanced UI design, front-end coding (HTML & CSS), motion design, and design for emerging digital technology such as AR experiences.
Instructors must be able to provide critical feedback from both a user experience and visual user interface perspective. They must also confidently advise on the technical implications and delivery of digital experiences.

This course includes 3-hours of class time per week and will be taught in-person at the Shipyards campus with content and assignment grading delivered through Microsoft Teams. A maximum of 1/3 of the classes can be offered online.

This course is part of the Interaction Design Diploma.
What you’ll bring
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent industry experience (5 years minimum)
  • Instructional expertise in Adobe CC applications, specifically Figma, Illustrator, and Photoshop in an Apple environment.
  • Technical experience with Apple file systems and font management.
  • Knowledgeable of the roles and responsibilities of an interaction designer, workflows used by the interactive design industry.
  • Experience with image-making software for static and dynamic media, vector and raster images.
  • Knowledgeable of fair use of media and data from both a producer and end-user perspective.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.
  • Experience delivering courses in-person and in an online format via MS Teams and Zoom.
